Martin Rotberg is a Vice President of Velocity
Sports & Entertainment. A native of Boston, Marty has
been in the New York area since 1980 involved professionally
in the marketing, promotion, sponsorship and corporate arenas.
Schooled in the Boston area, Marty received an undergraduate BS/BA in Business
Administration (Marketing/Advertising major) from Northeastern
University, and an MBA from Boston College.
After five years in the ad agency business,
he moved into Sports Marketing/Management for an innovative
sports franchise in professional soccer, with the Tampa Bay
Rowdies as VP Marketing/Promotion/Sales. Rotberg was then
promoted to a league position with the North American Soccer
League as VP Club Marketing Services.
He worked for seven years for World Championship
Tennis as Tournament Director of The Tournament of Champions
at the West Side Tennis Club, Forest Hills, New York, and
as manager of the company's New York office. Marty also worked
for Bristol Myers Squibb as Director of Promotion Services
overseeing general corporate consumer promotion activities
and sports sponsorships including US Open tennis, the USOC
Olympic association for 1992 Summer Games, basketball promotions
and the Nuprin Jimmy Connors promotional endorsement.
His sports/special event agency experience for
LMG, 21 Marketing & IMG includes successes in the sponsorship
sales arena, such as an Olympic relationship for Firestone,
Dallas Cowboys, Smithsonian Institution and Kennedy Space
Center. Marty also worked for an international high tech startup,
SciDel Technologies, in the emerging field of virtual advertising
with overall Sales/Marketing and business development oversight/responsibility
for North and South America.
In 2000 he was recruited to join the PBS Sponsorship Group/WNET
in a new position leading National Corporate Program Sponsorship
sales/marketing efforts.
Marty and Anne live in White Plains, New York and have two
children in college.
