WILTON, CT (March 3, 2005) - Velocity
Sports & Entertainment was recently recognized with
a Silver Reggie Award for its work on The Home Depot's
2004 Olympic campaign. Organized by the Promotion Marketing
Association (PMA), the Reggie Awards are presented annually
to the year's best promotional and integrated marketing
campaigns. Velocity competed in the top category
National Consumer Promotion with a budget of over $5
million alongside such industry leaders as Pepsi
and MilkPEP.
The Home Depot drove home its core message
of "You Can Do It. We Can Help." with its
continued sponsorship of the U.S., Canadian and Puerto
Rican Olympic Teams. Through the Olympic Job Opportunities
Program (OJOP), THD has provided more than 450 Olympic hopefuls
with a flexible work week, full-time pay and benefits
to accommodate their demanding training and competition
schedules. While this alone makes THD unique, Velocity's program took this established platform to
a new level. Velocity developed THD's first-ever Olympic-themed
national consumer promotion, along with a comprehensive
microsite, and programs for all 350,000 Associates. Moreover, the integrated program
touched nearly every part of the company's structure,
and allowed THD to distinguish itself from other Olympic
sponsors - as well as from its industry competition - by creating a unique, ownable piece of
the Olympic movement.
