WILTON, CT (February 26, 2004) - Velocity
Sports & Entertainment continues to add some of
the best senior talent in the industry when it today
announced the hiring of Grace Robinson and Ron Erskine.
Grace Robinson
Grace Robinson joins Velocity Sports & Entertainment
as Vice President and head of the Cingular Wireless
account. She will oversee all aspects of the Cingular
Wireless business including strategy development, property
evaluation, and leveraging the entire portfolio including
the 2004 NCAA programs. Mike Reisman, Principal, stated
Grace is a proven leader that can develop and
manage high-profile sponsorship programs. She has been
an integral part of some of the most creative programs
in the industry, and she will be a great addition to
team Velocity.
Robinson brings over 15 years of experience to Velocity
in the fields of promotion, sponsorship, and event marketing.
Prior to joining Velocity Robinson was Senior Vice President
at Momentum Worldwide (New York) and was responsible
for the management of the American Express Blue account,
which was re-launched in 2003 with promotional programs
developed around the National Academy of Recording Arts
& Sciences (NARAS), the VH-1 Save the Music Foundation,
and the Grammy Awards. Before joining Momentum Worldwide
she was Vice President of Client Services at the now
defunct Boston based sponsorship agency, Woolf Associates.
While at Woolf Associates, Robinson managed the Verizon,
John Hancock, Citizens Bank, and the Stop & Shop
Supermarket Company accounts.
Robinson grew up in Wellesley, MA and attended Bentley
College in Waltham, MA where she received her Bachelor
of Science degree in Business Communication, along with
a minor in Public Relations.
Ron Erskine
Ron Erskine joins Velocity Sports & Entertainment
as a Director on the Property Representation and Alliances
team. Working alongside Harlan Stone and Jeff Jonas,
Erskine will be responsible for property packaging and
sales, and he will also have senior client management
responsibilities. According to Velocity Principal Harlan
Stone, Ron is one of the most talented executives in the business,
and he brings a wealth of experience from both the agency
and property sides which will prove invaluable as we
continue to offer full service sponsorship marketing
solutions for our clients.
Before joining Velocity, Erskine was Vice President
of Marketing Properties at the National Basketball Association
(NBA) where he oversaw NBA programs including Hoop it
UP, NBA Jam Van, and All Star Balloting. In addition,
he led the sales efforts for several NBA Marketing Partnerships
including one of the NBAs more recent deals with
Speed Stick. Prior to the NBA, Erskine worked for Advantage
International (now Octagon), and was critical in the
dramatic growth of Octagons marketing division
throughout the 90s. Prior to his departure from
Octagon, Erskine held the title of Senior Vice President
of Lifestyle Properties.
A graduate of University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill)
with a degree in English, Erskine lives in New Jersey
with his wife, Kate, and their two children.
