WESTPORT, CT (June 11, 2001) - In only
its second year of operation, Velocity Sports &
Entertainment today was recognized as one of the nation's
top 100 marketing agencies, in Promo Magazine's annual
ranking of promotional firms.
The magazine writes that Velocity, "has
quickly built itself into one of the strongest sponsorship
activation houses," based on its work with FedEx,
IBM, and its most recent client, Cingular Wireless,
amongst others. FedEx's manager of sports and event
marketing, Nancy Altenburg, adds, "They've made
themselves completely indispensable. I'd recommend them
to anyone."
Velocity was created in July 1999 to provide
clients an unbiased option in the marketplace. Velocity
principal Mike Reisman said, "In this age of consolidation,
our inclusion in Promo's survey reinforces our decision
to remain independent and focused on our core business,
rather than trying to be everything to everybody."
As Reisman points out, Velocity is one of only three
agencies less than three years old and one of seven
less than five years old in the annual rankings.
Velocity's principals - David Grant, Alex
Nieroth, Reisman, and Bob Wilhelmy - have more
than 75 years experience helping clients maximize the
value of their sports and entertainment sponsorship
efforts. The company - with more than 35 employees and
offices in Westport, Conn., Washington, D.C., Atlanta
and San Francisco - assists clients with all aspects
of the sponsorship marketing process including strategic
planning, negotiation, program development/leveraging,
program execution, corporate hospitality and pre/post
evaluation. Velocity's founders include the principals
as well as Jody Bennett, Kelly Lyons, Stephanie
Mashia, Karen Shimp, and Brad Somma.
Other clients include Texaco, Shell, Reliant Energy,
The New York Times, Novartis and NASCAR.
